W251 2013 R Class bottom half of COMAND screen is blank

Hello all, hope someone can help, I'm looking for some advice for a problem with COMAND screen - I'm assuming it's an NTG 2.5?

The bottom half of the screen is blank. Same across all functions. When you get a drop down list they are blank on the same part of the screen as well. Everything seems to work OK though, you just can't see what you're doing.



I would be very grateful for some guidance on what is the likely cause and fix. I would prefer to avoid taking my wallet for open heart surgery at the main dealer. Is it likely to be the screen, or the actual comand unit (are they separate?), or a cheeky little £3 wire in the back that always goes on these... Is buying a replacement on ebay fraught with problems? Are there specialists for this, comandonline or similar that anyone can recommend?

LCD failure (its a separate thing Mercedes supply as a part). Speak to www.comand.co.uk they can replace the display part of the COMANDt.

Dealer will tell you you need a new unit !! I'd be surprised if you found used R class NTG2.5 on eBay (rare) and they tend to have anti-theft codes and need coding to the vehicle.
