W447 V class headlight lens replacement

I got a crack across the Led headlight on my V class. A new one is £830!
I managed to get a second hand unit and have fitted it, but now I'm looking at this perfectly functioning headlight with a cracked lens wondering how to replace the lens.. They are available aftermarket, but apparently one needs some kind of special chemical to dissolve the adhesive-my heatgun had absolutely no effect on it.
Has anyone successfully removed and replaced a lens? It seems like a terrific waste just to bung it in the bin

I like the 447's i aspire to own one, one day, my 639 is getting noisy and rattly these days and the ride is awful on 245 18's , but that scares me from an early move £830 mind boggling that , good luck with the repair or sourcing another
