bloody nice body kits tho, shame about the price, i took alook on there web site for w210 salon kit and omg does it look good, there wheels are very nice to

You need to add that is a replica :)

A replica Wald kit? Really? I wasn't aware they were replicated.

Did you think they come from Japan for that price?

Sorry, I don't know what you mean. I understood Wald to be a German AMG clone type company and wasn't aware people bothered to replicate them.

As far as i know, they`re Jpanese company welcome to WALD.INTERNATIONAL They do look good on some cars but i`ve never liked them on W124s

Yes, I do. If you're buying and shipping in volume (container or container groupage) the price sounds about right to me.

I've also been through the process of producing molds and fabricating a replica AMG kit for the W126 myself. It's very expensive, however once you've got the molds made they are generally good for a few hundred kits.

At £1500 + vat and delivery there's still a good margin in that even considering shipping costs from Japan.

WALD produce fibreglass kits and having been through the production process myself even at low volume (30 kits) all these numbers stack up.

Plus I'd be mildly amused that someone is doing a replica of an aftermarket company doing a bodykit to their own design.

When i en-quired the guy said shipping would be expensive from Japan, He also said it would be worth while waiting until he puts in a big order then the shipping would be cheaper, even if the shipping was free i wasn't expecting £1500

What do you think you should be paying considering the R&D, tooling, fabrication, packaging, fixed overheads, profit for manufacturer, shipping from Japan, import duty (over and above VAT), VAT and finally margin for UK Importer?

By the time you've stripped that lot back, there's probably a £400 bodykit.

That's business.

I had a guy in Australia wanting to buy one of my kits, which i boxed in purposes made packing and boxes....cheapest air freight I could get was £3000 + duty.

I could container ship on a groupage basis which would take anything up to 3 months.

I just bought an used Wald kit for my W140 looks very good, only need to do some paint work!

Sounds about right. I asked CKS here price on a w126 body kit, excluding Wald wheels.... cost was 1600 GBP.

I managed to get the complete bodykit, new, for 450 GBP, plus the original Wald wheels for 550 GBP.

Since i am having a large container full of AMG, Wald, Lorinser goodies shipped from Japan, cost of shipping is less of an issue. But unless the shpping price on the bodykit of 450 GBP is 1200 GBP, then distributor price here of 1600 GBP certainly carries some margin. Bear in mind they as a company will get it shipped cheaper than an individual doing a one-off.

cheers
