My sister is looking for the above car. She's obviously using the usual; Autotrader and Ebay, but not yet having Internet access at her new home is having to make frequent visits to Starbucks with its free wi-fi.

She lives in Surrey, so ideally the car would be a sensible distance from there. So if anyone has seen one for sale in their area and can recommend a visit please PM me with details.

Many thanks.

Shame its a diesel,I have a 55 plate C180 Compressor,with full MB service history,but its petrol and only 25k milage !

A long shot on a MB forum, but she does have a plan B, which is VAG car with DSG gearbox.

Any personal recommendations appreciated.

A CLK? MB dealers?

She says she really wants a hatch for practicality.

I suggested she visited a MB main dealer too or specialist. Some generic dealers clearly didn't know what they were selling and couldn't tell her the difference between a C200 and a C220. She's no car geek but knows when she's being fobbed off. Today one car dealer walk out of the room on her when she asked 'too many' questions. Imagine that!

These dealers just dont get it do they

Will-the CLK is a cracker. She should definately buy that :D

For the money it looks very good. The rear seats fold down so a certain amount of practicality can be had.

I'd say quite a bit. A 209 has a large boot and much larger rear seating which is also good for luggage, plus its a 270 engine so a nice 5pot for her to warble around in

She sounded encoraged by the rear folding seats. Most people assume saloons have fixed rear seats, myself included.

Jay says the coupes are very popular which is why in turn the CLK looks such good value.

She plans to keep the car for 5-6 years (50-70k) so the larger 2.7 engine may be easier to sell on with +100k miles.

Lets be honest if Jay has these two up for sale you are not going to find anything better and you aren't going to go far wrong buying from someone like Jay. Professionalism and honesty is hard to find in the used car game and Mercland excels at both.

Yes, that's very true. I know from my own recent experience that s/h car buying is hard work. Now my sister is finding out the same.

If my sister didn't live ~150miles from Mercland I doubt we'd be having the conversation :) But she's ever so busy unpacking 2 containers of personal belongings having returned from working abroad, so every hour in the w/e is precious.

She knows the deal Jay has offered and now needs to be clear on another car to be able to make a decission...............or not.

My CLK came from 210 miles away, if you want the right car you'll travel and good cars come from good areas and good people. Better to hire a car short term and find the right model for you ,much cheaper in the long run. JMHO though.

My sister has now put a deposit down on:

2004 C-Class coupe C200 CDI Evolution - £9650

44k miles
Full MB service history
Black leather interior
Heated front seats
12 month MoT
12 months warranty

Service is due in 4k. TM Motors in West Molesey has been recommended by quite a few members, so I've advised her to go there.

Jay: Thank you for taking the time to show me your car, much appreciated.
