Wanted Mercedes E-Class W210 diesel Saloon – fully loaded!

@ SPX. The thread about your F-I-L's car was a good read - thanks. Looking around there's still quite a variation in prices for W210 diesels, both saloon and estates. I guess shopping around and patience pays off!

Booster seats would be useful because of the little ones, but I would accept a car without them even though it is on my wanted list. The comand would be good too because of the novelty value but you are right that the technology is dated.

I did see a fully speced W211 2003 that was fully speced and that went for £6,000. It even had a panoramic roof but I really want a W210 with the toys and not W211.

Do bear in mind that sometimes people overlook these... When I bought ours I did not even know it had them, despite it being a mercedes specialist (not one that I would recommend) selling it.

We also found that the then 7 year old monster would 'knock' it down by fidgeting, so often complaints that the seat had collapsed. We stopped using them.

I wouldn't turn down a car without comand as you could just modify the dash to take a double din modern DVD aftermarket with Bluetooth built in.

I've got A w210 double din frame brand new should you need it

Can you expand on this please as I would like to know how it would all work. Also some photos would be nice because a picture says 1,000 words.

Very well equipped. I just hate silly comments about the measure of a good Merc being the original first aid kit etc - it is money spent on the mechanical side that matters!

Thanks, I saw that and thought it is exactly what I need but it is an estate, which at the moment I don't need, but I am considering it and will contact the seller. If it had the seven seats then I could have sold my Sharan as the extra seats are very useful.

I sold my facelift W210 E320 petrol 2 years ago. It was Violane Metallic with:

Anthracite full leather, xenons, Comand, Phone, front and rear parktronic, half wood half leather steering wheel, climate, CD changer, electric memory seats.. I'm sure there was more.

What did it get on eBay? £1,550

In a way, I would rather have given it away for free than let it go for that but I started it at £1 with no reserve as I needed my driveway back. The buyer was well pleased!

You win some and you lose some.. Years ago I advertised my Ducati on Bike Trader and other bike mags for £4,000 ono and had no phone calls at all. After a few weeks I decided to put that on eBay too starting at £1 with no reserve. I think I got £4300 in the end. The buyer who came to collect was over the moon

I take it Xenons were a factory option on the W210?

I just bought it! The estate was not what I wanted, but as the spec offered was the best that I have come across I just could not say no. It even has parking sensors, but I maintain that men don't need them! The gentleman I bought it off was a nice guy, he picked me up from the train station, took me to the bank and then to his home to complete the paperwork. The service history is not as full/complete that I would have liked but the condition of the car speaks for itself. There are a few very tiny rust bubbles in the usual places, a few scruffs/scratches and a tiny dent on the tailgate. I am very happy with the car and thanks guys for the advice and help.

I do have a few questions though, how hard would it be to install the extra seats in the boot? Ideally would love the seven seats. What size AMG alloys would I need (18 inch)? If a saloon comes in the same spec then I would sell but otherwise she drives well and is a keeper.

If anyone comes across the booster seats then please let me know.

The third row of seats are very easy to fit...so long as you can find a donor car...you must have the belts too. In fact if you remove the rear part of the boot floor (the bit that does not lift) you will find it is made of the two parts that are used when the third row is fitted.
