Wanted - portable DVD player

for the wee fella. Needs to be 7" screen minimum. Anyone got one they don't want anymore?

There are some good prices on ebay but most of them are shipped from Hong Kong

may sound daft - but go to Woolworths at £129 they are cheaper than most of the ebay sellers and they are available off the shelves with a full UK warranty

remember when these things are being shipped from Hong Kong you can easily get caught for a VAT bill by customs and an "administration fee" for collecting it from the post office based on the insured value of the parcel. Then there is also the variable rate import duty to pay (unlike VAT you can't claim this back), I think for a DVD player it's about 3% but check with customs and excise first.

Of course, if it's not insured and the customs declaration isn't filled in properly there's a very good chance it will go missing leaving you without a leg to stand on.

You've also got little redress against the seller should things go wrong and unless the warranty is specifically for the UK or Europe then it will be worthless.

I've looked at buying stuff from Hong Kong in the past and the only really safe method is to go there and bring it back yourself

Think thats about the best option was looking at them earlier this weekend.
