Ah , i thought this was a car forum

I know someone with an S500 they might want to sell ....

If it helps with understanding the reasoning behind a first post of this nature.

The OP is an AOL user. :D

Can't think why one would want an air rifle in Chelsea of all places though.

That needs explaining ????

Since AOL has always been an awful ISP, it attracted a particular type of customer. (one that didn't know any better)

The AOL acronym therefore developed another well known meaning.

Yet another interesting 1st post from a new member - deffo something in the water or air!!

What's so bad about AOL? I've had it for 10 years plus, from dial up to ISDN to BB, it has rarely let me down.

For a start, the name should be enough to put most people off. America On Line - wtf?

It may have changed a bit now but for many years you didnt actually get the internet with AOL. You got AOL's cut down lame version of the internet.

Then there was that god awful AOL browser thing and the proprietary way they wanted you to dial up...

Seriously, millions of people on the internet will immediately form a poor opinion of another user purely based on an AOL address or IP address range.

I'm one of them.

AOL is better known as AOHell around here...

Have a quick look around "the net" - AOL is generally despised... Speed, customer service and content are terrible... and that's even before starting their horrendous propietary browser!

Then comes the day you want to uninstall it... you might as well format your machine and start from scratch! That's not to mention trying to cancel AOL... it's easier to squirm out of a deal with the devil!

Then comes the spam/URL filter - I've known websites to post special instructions just for AOL users!

As Spinal has referenced, AOL users get different treatment from not only other users but also relays and web servers.

When I ran a number of offline shops one of the filter rules was the registrants email address. If it was an AOL address the order used to be given much closer scrutiny (for good reason) than say a btinternet address.

Ass On-Line
A**hole On Lithium
A**hole Online Literally
A**holes Oddballs And Lunatics
A**holes On Line
A**holes Online Login
Automatically Off Line
Awful On Line

Just a few of the common meanings for the acronym.
