Hi to all newbie here planning on buying a slk soon wanting a 230komp probs get around a 2003 model.

I currently drive a 200bhp cooper S supercharged and love it run a 14.8@santapod, so this is why I want a kompressor (the sound) and abit more luxury I will want to tune the merc to about 250bhp is this possible ??
Are smaller pulleys for the supercharger available?? Been looking online carnt find any anywhere :/
Bigger intercoolers ??

One of my main issues is the gearbox I presume the autobox is stronger and less hassle to maintain than the manual (clutch replacement) I want a manual really but trying to find a low mileage one is like searching for gold !! is there any problems with either of the boxes ? Do all the autos have trip tronic ?

Thanks to all
Ash

This engine does not work well with an auto box and to get to 250 bhp will take you into thousands and serious engine work. I would suggest first on your shopping list are a under or overdrive pulley and a larger intercooler, realistically that will get you ~ 30 bhp a remap will get you another 10 - 12 bhp so you will get to 240 bhp easily enough but for that last 30 bhp you are into serious headwork, bigger valves, reposition throttle body, custom header, free flow exhaust etc.. best you can get this engine to is ~ 270 bhp

I know as I have been there and done the above

for pulleys and intercoolers ASP Racing in the USA but I also believe CKS in the UK are doing Kleeman kits but are well over a grand.

If you want to know anything else just shout but if you search you'll find the thread on what I did to mine.

Hi that's plenty enough around the 240 mark and yeah your the guy I will be asking then when I want the best, and so you say the manual is a much better box ? Wanting a manual just hard to find one. Ill have a look for your thread thanks ash

The Kompressor 2.3 engine is a strong engine but it is a little unrefined and raucous when you give it some beans, to me thats what sets it apart from the 3.2 V6 which is silky smooth and refined but does not feel sporty, so if it's the sporty feel you are after the 2.3 K engine mated to a manual box is a great combination. The auto box on the 2.3k can never make its mind up which gear it should be in and to me it chooses the wrong gear for my driving style. That said I'm not an Auto box fan in general unless its on the big stufff like MB S class, Audi A8 etc.

Theres some great traders on this forum so check out people like Mercland and the independents who usually have great motors for sale.
