Good evening everyone, hopefully soon I'll be the owner of a lovely used 09 plate w211. I'm planning on buying this car from a regular dealership(not approved used). My question for you guys is whether the manufacturer's three years unlimited mileage waranty is being passed to the new owner(me) or not? Thank's a lot.

As long as the car has a valid service history and it's an officially imported UK car then yes.

Thanks for quick reply. Maun Valley - Stock List This is actually the dealer's website link and the car I'm after is the first in his stocklist. Have a look if I don't ask to much and give me your opinion. Cheers.

Ring MB UK customer services, give them the registration number and they will confirm the service history and the warranty on the car.

Looks like a lovely example - not many miles at all!

It's had a high mileage within a short period. That's not an issue as such.

However there's a chance at that mileage it has been passed to the dealer without being serviced.

Ask them what the service indicator is currently showing (estimated mileage to next service and a letter indicating the likely amount of work). And also ask for the details of the last service (at that mileage it will probably have had its first service).

What do you guys think about price?

Not bad but it's difficult to tell. MB tend to pass cars through their dealers at about a year old. So at the moment 08s will predominate with perhaps a few 58s. So there's little to compare with directly.

So compare the dealer prices for those and figure if you think you're paying too much more for an 09 over an 08.

Phoned up MB cust service today and they've confirmed service completed in september, so waranty is unaffected.

MB Direct had loads of 58/09 W211s in stock last time I looked for arround £20k. All where either 200 K or 220 CDIs, in Avantgarde or Elegance trim and with K-prefix numberplates. Very cheap considering these cars cost arround £30k new before options.

Having had in the past a car with a beige dash, my advice is look at in the sun. Does it reflect in the windscreen. I found my Volvo with a beige dash infuriating until I bought a pair of polarised sunglasses.

Besides that it looks a nice car.

I've got polarised sunglasses :thumb:so I should be alright. Thanks though.

How much more would it be to buy from MB main dealer? Are you sure that the warranty is the same in yrs 2 and 3 if you buy from an independent?
If there is any doubt then I would buy either from MB or go the other way and buy at British Car Auctions - which may be where this one came from.

The miles are fairly high for an 09 registered car but that won't matter a jot in the long run.

The guarantee is transferrable to the new owner and is three years on UK supplied and registered cars (two years in Europe).

The price is right for a car of that age . MB dealers would be about the same and you can see quite a few by going to the MB website and checking out 'approved used'.

However, there are very few 220cdi's with such a great spec. COMAND, leather etc etc. In the approved used search engine there is a section on 'features' where you can put in auto, COMAND and leather etc. Very few come up that meet that spec and all are dearer if they do. If it hasn't been pranged etc, looks a good price.

Servicing on that age of car is every 15,500 miles or once per year whichever comes first. Check it was done at or close to 15,500 miles. Going over by too many miles can infringe the warranty.

Good advice there :thumb:. If you don't have a part exchange and have cash to spend on a late-reg car (i.e. still within manufacturers warranty) the auctions are the best place to buy.

Well, I'd get it from MB main dealer, but they don't have it, but I've spoken with MB customer service and the car has been proprerly serviced by MB in september and is a official import, so therefore the waranty is ''guaranteed'' for the whole 'till february 2012. Thanks.

MB confirmed waranty is fine and the mileage doesn't put me off 'cause I'll be doing in the region of 100000 miles/year anyway. Like you said, great spec, the reason why i want this car. Checked approved used myself, wasn't to much joy. Thanks.
