Hi All

Driving home today I pulled into a service area and was greeted with 4 amber lights, BAS/ESP, ETS, ABS ans EPC. The ESP warning light has been flashing vaer occasionally when pulling away but then no problems for some time the it happens again. This is the first time the dash lights have come on. All the light went out when I pulled away to finish the journey.

I read somewhere on here that there is a chaffing wire harness that sometimes causes this but I'm not sure of the location.

I've also had a stuck brake calliper that caused the front disk etc to overheat, (fixed with all new calipers, diska etc) could this have done for the ABS speed sensor, if so where's the bast place to get one from?

Any help/pointers would be appreciated.

Pete.

Search for brake light switch first cheap less than a tenner from dealer, very easy to fit.

Found the brake light switch and searched this forum for how to get it out:thumb: but it would not twist out as said in post:wallbash: and as I didn't have a replacement I'll try again when I get one.

I put a MaxScan GS 500 on the OBD and it showed a code stored but it wouldn't read it:eek: but it did clear it much to my amaisment.

Anyone know of an indi in the area arround Morecambe with a star system?

Cheers

Peter.

Well I've changed the brakelight switch and still got this intermittant problem od the ESP light flashing and the ABS cutting in at very low speed as I'm setting off. Not had any warning lights up yet though.

Any more ideas please.

Hi Peter, I had a very similar problem with an R129 SL last year, and it turned out to be a bad wire to the front nearside ABS sensor. It may be that in your case that the wire has become damaged from the heat generated by the sticking caliper. Use a multimeter at the ABS cable connectors to check for continuity. Jiggle the wires while your doing it, that's how I found mine was breaking up.

Also have you checked the pick up rings on the hubs for dirt/missing teeth, this can also cause the symptoms you mention.

Hope this helps,
Mark.
