hi all.

looking for advice with someone whom has actually claimed of Mercedes warranty.

i bought a 2.5yr old GL420cdi last week.
i do currently have an excellant relationship with my Merc main dealer, and they even helped me out with my purchase by giving me original specs /extras during my hunt of the prospective cars, and also service history, warranty work and any recall campaigns by furnishing them with reg no and chassis number which was very helpful ( private cars also ).

anyways, after collecting my car, i called the service dept to say thanks, and they told me to get the car in as soon as possible as they will go through it with a fine toothcomb for warranty work, which is nice. i have been requested to make a list myself, and they will see what falls into the warranty and what doesnt....

so, the issues i see are 2 bubbling alloys, both chrome roof rails have corroded and flaking in areas, the wheel nuts have all corroded, and the brake calipers are equally corroded. apart from that, nothing.

are these issues that are covered under the warranty?

icing on the cake was i booked it for a 'B' service at the same time as the warranty inspection, was advised the price was £395inc, but if i bring my own oil, as i normally do, they will knock £100 off and do me 15% discount on the remaining £295... seems like my dealer is outstanding compared to others!:bannana:

thanks for any warranty advice in advance.:thumb:

Wow your mb dealer does look after you!(which one may i ask?),as far as the warranty work, why don't you just list everything as mentioned & let the dealer tell you whats covered then you can decide what to do about the bits that might not be?

Hi,

Sounds like a good dealer, it doesn't sound like a London dealer.

I hope I am wrong.

Ant service due within 3,000 miles or 3 months of purchase should be free.........thats what the warranty booklet says!

The rest of it sounds cosmetic except the calipers...but they should fix it under warranty I think.

Was it bought from a MB dealer? If not then this doesn't apply.

I have a 2007 GL 420CDI. Basically reliable, i've done about 45k miles. Problem with Comand whereby the sound was sometimes badly distorted.
A couple of parking sensors replaced, not really a fault as damaged by stones. More significantly 3 injectors replaced, dealer was surprised so maybe not a known issue.

Also a recall, your car might not be in the cars affected, to replace the airmatic suspension pump.

If the wheels are showing any signs of impact damage, MB are likely to refuse to do anything with the corrosion.
