was that you in the gtr reg vk 10 bla bla bla?

Nick.

0-80 in any time is illegal.

It may be illegal but doing 80mph is not something the police actually seem enforce (unless the conditions make 80mph dangerous), I think they actually rather the traffic did 80mph when there is traffic problems to try and clear the flow.

I went past a marked police car on the M4 this morning at 2am at 95mph and nothing happened. The point I'm trying to make I guess is that I don't think all speeding can be counted as 'dangerous'. I think it depends on the car in question, I'm quite sure if a 20 year old Fiesta with 4 chavs on board drove past the same police car at 95mph they would have pulled it over. I'll admit to being stopped before for doing 90ish and the officers only comment was 'it's a heavy car it won't stop so quick in the wet' in fairness it was drizzle and he had a point so I continued my journey at 80mph and he followed me for a bit and then slowed down again.

I do a lot of miles in Germany and often take the A3 from Koln to Suttgart which is mostly unrestricted albeit a fair bit of roadworks at the moment which doesn't help but you can happily cruise along at 130mph with other cars and trucks and it doesn't feel dangerous at all.

I just don't understand peoples hatred for anyone doing over the speedlimit like it directly affects them in some way. I had someone in a Punto last night the outside lane for 3 miles there was a queue of 4 cars behind this idiot doing 70mph in the outside lane when the 2 inside lanes are completely clear, eventually I got bored and undertook him on the way past he found the time to give me the w@nker sign and then flash me whilst I moved over to lane 1...

I'm just ramblng on now. Hopefully you can understand what I meant without starting some kind of arguement, I'm probably not articulating what I mean very well as I need a cup of tea!

Yeah come on gents. We're all human and only live once so make the most of it. Life's short, then you die. We all break laws from time to time, so there's no point getting your knickers in a twist etc. Many people do a lot worse things, so brighten up and enjoy your life. In fact, get into you car now and go for a drive, enjoy it and the sunshine.

Was it a short gap in the traffic?

I've not had the privellege of driving either a 320 twin turbo or GT-R, but a GT-R really ought to have the legs to get passed assuming that the driver actually wanted to and there is physically enough road to pass - they are ferociously quick and supposedly very very easy to drive quickly.

What He said! I've been in a GT-R as someone at work has one and even though his is still running in and is limited to 5K rpm ( self imposed ) it is Starship Enterprise fast! No ifs ands or buts.

The twin turbo w124 is capable of 350bhp, 400 if pushed, and it weighs much less than the GTR. But i'm sure if you guys would have continued onto tripple digits he would've passed you. But still, well done :)

very true point, i came across a 09 plate gtr on the m1 the other day, at motorway speeds, and i was on the bike.

i had to try very very hard to get past him, and i took a number of down shifts and a couple of attempts to do it.

having experienced that on my 1 litre sports bike, which is very very fast, i can only say one thing, the gtr is an awesome beast,

at those speeds, my merc would have been so far behind, i would not, to quote a post from above, have seen which way he went!

15 year old W124 able to keep up with the latest jap car... long live the W124 I say!
