Was this a good deal ???

Looks ok....

Don't know why its listed as 'Very rare' ;)

If the boot lining needs replacing its probably water damaged, through a leak below the rear screen so check the boot area for rust...

Wheels i beleive are AMG styling I's , which are ok, but not as sought after as styling II's are they 16's or 17's ?

Its worth what you think is a fair price for it, if you feel like you had a deal then thats what matters, there was a discussion on here a while back about the price of cars on ebay, and sometimes they don't reflect the true value of the car....

Why is the wooden trim broken on the dash ? is it where someone has tried to break in to the glove box ? check for other signs of damage ..... pieces of glass under the carpet etc....

Watch out for the chrome wheel arches, these add-ons are commonly used to hide wheelarch rust in order to sell a car on without having to have the paintwork done.....

I see its got no MOT and Tax, this would be the biggest worry as if it fails and costs loads to put right, then you have bought a lemon.....

To be honest KLP 92 is the guy to speak to, hes just bought a 560SEC AMG and is in the process of renovating it ...

Good luck !!

still has presence today!

looks very nice - hope it serves you well.

These are nice cars BUT have quite a few problems areas.

The main thing is rust around the bottom of the rear screen. If you open the boot look at the condition of the panel at the base of the screen. Then check under the parcel shelf for any signs of rust. 99% of them have rotted here, unless its been repaired. To repair it properly it will cost £sss! The rear screen has to come out and the panel behind has to be cut out and a new one welded in its place. High chance the screen will break on removal so budget for a new one!

Guarentee if you remove the wheel arch trims you'll find rust!

At £1000 you don't want to spend alot of money on it, best bet is repair it on a budget. Check if there's water mcoming into the boot and if it is find out where its coming from and fill it with silicone.

Another thing is check the timing chain, see if it rattles on start up, should be changed at 100k.

Good things about your car is the AMG side skirts and rear bumper! I'm currently sourcing a set of side skirts so if you wanted to sell them...... (let me know!!)

I'm restoring a 560 SEC at the moment, complete overhaul of the entire car! Will realistically cost me about £5k but if you don't have contacts in the industry its not worth restoring it.

Still looks the bizz. I would drive it into the ground for six months, enjoy it , and then put it back on e bay with the remaining 6 months mot ....These cars can be a financial nightmare if anything goes wrong so just keep ya fingers crossed and have some fun....I personally wouldnt spend a bean on it unless i was going to keep it forever ... then i would do a complete overhaul....

Thanks for the great responce, It did indeed need some welding in the boot, which I have now done, very straight forward , as you said KLP 92 it does have some rust behind the parcel shelf however is not serious and I am going to treat it with some rust conerter, the car could do with a complete restoration to really show it off however for £1000.00 I would rather run it then sell it and buy a better perhaps newer mercedes.

When I bought the car I intended to sell it on for a proffit, however every time I drive it I want to keep it !! one thing is for sure I have now been bitten by the bug !!

Thanks for all the great advice !!
