We have recently spent over £4k correcting electrical issues with our Mercedes E-class E350 CDI S212.223, including replacing the ECU which was water damaged. I should very much like to protect the ECU in this way (it is located in the back of the inner wing driver's side). Can anbody help with a design for such an aluminium cover?

Water ingress in this area is often associated with blocked windscreen/bulkhead drains so it's imperative to keep these clear- falling leaves are a favourite blockage item. Rather than design an aluminium cover It may be possible to use some sort of waterproof membrane to encase the front Sam Unit [ECU] But heat dissipation might be a problem

Many thanks for this. I will double check the windscreen and bulkhead drains - our house is surrounded by trees, as is the house of the former owner of the car. I thought about a waterproof membrane, but was concerned about possible heat dissipation issues. Aluminium does seem to be a good alternative.
