I don't normally get involved in anything on the road (having grown out of road rage in my late 20s), but Saturday morning yielded one of the weirdest encounters I've had in a while.
I was on a 40mph dual carriageway in mild traffic minding my own business and coming up to a big intersection with traffic lights where I kept passing and being repassed by a 2009 Mini in the ebb and flow of the different lanes. For some reason I was aware of the driver and female passenger staring at me, but not in a particularly good way.
As it happened we ended up adjacent to each other about 2 cars back from the red light and he sounded his horn to get my attention. I wound my passenger window down and he proceeded to yell about why try and make a nice car look like something it isn't ... get a real AMG if you want one etc. etc.
I was a bit talen aback as a) I wasn't expecting the abuse and b) it is a real AMG. It is debadged, but so what!
Anyway we set off and I ended up in the outside lane with nothing ahead as it went to the national speed limit, I looked behind and there was the Mini glued to by rear bumper.
Now 10 years ago I would have just wasted him, but I decided I wanted the muppet in front of me rather than behind me so as soon as I could I pulled in and let him by to be confronted by his passenger giving me a w4nker sign out of her open window!
Classy! Should have wasted him.. ah well! Sensible is all very well, but bloody frustrating! Funny thing is I have never liked the way most of the new Minis are driven.... it is like the drivers have something to prove!
