What are the first suspension parts that need replacing/refreshing? (W212)

You seem to misunderstand the correct use of the word. That doesn't really surprise me as the general quality of your posts here is pretty low.

Your reaction to this thread shows us a lot about you.

You tell us that you do not trust Mercedes yet you choose to use them for service work. When you are politely challenged on this your instant reaction, rather than offering an explanation is to throw around childish insults.

I can only assume that you are a fairly low achiever in life overall who finds adult conversation difficult and, like other keyboard warriors, automatically defaults to this behaviour because you don't know any better.

There are many interesting and intelligent members here whose contributions I find to be worth reading. You do not fall into that category so the best place for you is the blocked list.

I changed my balljoints and thrust control arms drop links at 125k with new bilstein shock absorbers and top mounts
I would recommend shock absorbers at the minimum as they only last about 60-80k

The balljoints were still very good and quite stiff but the shockers were totally dead

Now i am planning on doing my rear control arms so just gathering the parts slowly

Just got new rear lower control arms along with shocks and springs in the garage for my E320cdi . But I’m going to need much better weather to make a start .

I’ve changed all control arms on the front, drop links and tie rod ends. Got hunter 4 wheel alignment, although in all honesty I think the only adjustment that it’s possible ti make on this car is the tie rod ends...?

I’ve also changed drop links at the back too.

I haven’t changed shocks and springs as it’s all so much money. This was expensive and I did it myself. I’d love to do it but need to total up the parts.

I guess I need to do the rear control arms too but I haven’t got my head around the setup there to assess difficulty, or even how many arms there are (3 I think). I don’t want to go through what I went through at the front, so might have ti budget for a mechanic to do it, unless the rear is easier. I’ll check some videos.

Car drives like ‘new’ again, even compared to one with 45k miles, but maybe it would be even better with new shocks…

Just following this thread - my W212 is now on 172k and having the front springs replaced today. The front control arms were done at around 100k. So if I understand correctly all 4 shocks should be changed as well as the rear control arms? The rear springs were replaced at 140k.
Are the shocks DIY?

The first things to go for me were the rear springs somewhere after 200,000, then shortly after that 2 front bushes, can't remember which but easy job then 2 front drop links at 350,000 apart from that all original.
I did have to have a hole in the rear sub frame welded though :-/
