Mercedes A Class
Hi All,

I came across this forum whilst I was doing some research on what system to retrofit to my car. I appreciate that there are lots of various threads already, but was hoping someone could simplfy it for me?

At the moment I have a 2012 plate A-Class (W169?) that came with the standard radio / telephone system fitted (not sure what model it is, see photos).

I have had my car 6months and love it, however I miss the functions that my previous car had so am looking to retro fit (myself) a newer system.

The functions I would like are,

SatNav capabilities,
iPod/iPhone connectability
Be able to Stream Music from my phone to the unit
Fit to my exsisting set up with out having to do too much work
Work with the exsisting controls in my steering wheel.

I have looked around and seen lots of threads about Comand 2, 2.5 etc and not really sure what functions they offer and also with out knowing what set up I have! I am confused.

As mentioned, I have what I think is a standard stereo/cd player and the ability to connect my phone via bluetooth.

What other aftermarket systems are there too that might offer what I need?

Thanks in advance for your help and look forward to being a member of mbclub!

If you want to stick with a Mercedes unit, you need to fit
a) Comand NTG2.5 - this give you the fully integrated sat-nav thing, with 7 digit postcode, birdseye view, ability to add DAB later, or iPod kit later
b) Media Interface (the fully integrated factory iPod kit which can be controlled from COMAND showing the track names, playlists / etc etc) or iPod kit (more clunky dealer fit controlled from the steering wheel and cluster display only)
c) Tune2Air to get the BT audio-streaming part into the iPod / Media Interface kit - this allows access to the playlists . track / album / genre thing over bluetooth also

Its relatively simple to fit, but then you need the car coded to make it all work properly

Thank you for your advice. Can you advise me what unit it is I already have fitted as I am confused!.

Also, if I was looking for an aftermarket device - i.e non merc, what would people recomend?

I quite like the look of the parrot asteroid smart. However not sure what cabling I would need to make it work with my exsiting loom?
