What can I do about a car dealer who's got my car.

The deal was done months ago, it's too late now.

It is precisely because the deal was done months ago that there is a problem so it is not too late. As far as I understood Paul has never actually taken delivery of the car. !00% disgusting abuse of a person who is too patient and forgiving for his own good.

I think he said that he took the car away for a couple of days, which could constitute accepting it.

Well I did have it, but it was only like a loan car while waiting for the parts to arrive. I am sure ultimately that will go against me.

With hindsight I can see I should have run a mile, but they were very convincing.

I am too trusting/forgiving for my own good.

I did reply to this thread earlier but my pc decided to give up..

Anyway, had a long conversation with the other partner at Choice today.

They seem keen to get this sorted... they have sunk a huge amount of money into it already and are now reluctant to waste any more.
They asked me again to supply and fit the EIS, but i explained the quickest and cheapest thing to do would be to get it directly to MB.

Im afraid to say they need to get a rocket up themselves.. this car should have been driven straight from Howard Williams to MB and in all likeliness it would have been back by now.

In this industry its a game of win some lose some.

Today I have a bill on my desk for £1700 from a Volvo dealer for a car that i bought for £1400. (ECU packed up for some unknown reason and cannot be refurbed)
Unfortunately it had to be done as the customer is waiting to pick up his lovely C70..
Only way is to pay it and hope next week i might make a profit and will cancel this week out!

I did say to Choice that they are better to get the car sorted quickly at whatever expense rather than faffing about, making you even more anxious and upset.

They have no choice but to fix it, so get on with it.. They can deal with warranty companies later.

Nick - sorry if I came across as having ago at HW... just seems they have replaced every single control unit in sight and nothing has worked..

Cheers

Jay

Kevin told me on Tuesday that he would be round to MB at 9am the next morning to get this done. When does he ever tell the truth.

I am very annoyed that even now he's trying to avoid the main dealer.

Thank you again Jay for talking to them. They tell you more than they ever tell me.

You seem to have worked him out finally. Do your self a favour and stop being so nice; go and see a solicitor on Monday.

I have to go and get my photo taken tomorrow by the newspaper :)

I phoned MB Tamworth today to confirm "rumours" that my car is actually booked in for the EIS job. It IS and the MB service manager says it's only a simple job and the car will be done tomorrow morning and fixed by the afternoon.

Maybe I'll get it back in time for the photo :)

Or should that be a warning for any traders - stay away from modern cars?

Just read the blog - Can't believe what they've put you through!!
Maybe when you finally get the car nearly 5 months late you should suggest that it isn't actually worth the same value as it was back in july!

Well done for going to the press, best of luck with finally getting your car

James

I would also suggest that you check the mileage that has been clocked up onto the car since you did the deal 5 months ago, before you take the keys and walk away.

i though they try to claim off the warrentee

It did end up with 2 grands worth of sam units too.

So while I can understand your frustration, they did spend a small fortune to get the car sorted.

Which, if I understand the thread correctly, is their own fault for trying to get things repaired on the cheap and not addressing the problems professionally and with a dealer who had the facilities and equipment to diagnose and rectify the problems.

I'd have lost my cool a long time ago about this. Go through with the story int he paper, that will cost them far more money than £2000 worth of repairs. Very short sighted people...as I said before I despise liars.

I can't believe you have removed the blog - I would remove it only after you have the car and everything on it is in good working order.

Let's just hope that is the reason why he'd have removed the blog.

Yes that is the reason. :)

I have just returned from the dealer with my car. The original faults are now rectified and as far as I can tell no other faults are there. It seems odd to see the door mirrors flash when I press the lock button.

The mileage is about what I would expect for a couple of trips to Howard Williams in Brum and to the main dealers.

We came to an agreement and I agreed with them that I would remove the blog if the car was satisfactory which it is.

I have no gripe with them any more. I wouldn't go there again though.

Thank you to every one for your support and especially to Jay for giving them a prod.

Hopefully now I can start posting about MPG and other rubbish :)

When I got back in it for the first time, my mind was a blank. I could not remember how to do anything.
