What car forums are really like

I wonder why, judging by the posts on this forum, MB cars don't appear to attract the barely-literate or the semi-literate?

Depends upon the level of literacy from which you view it. :)

Don't push so hard with your tongue, you'll hurt your cheek!

Oh and by the way, with respect, you need to research the plural of 'forum'. It can depend on which forum you mean.

I'll send you some PMs (private memoranda) about it....:thumb:

The Corsa Forum thread by Wanco was probably the funniest thing I've seen. I was belly-laughing at that one.
Sadly no longer available unless someone can unearth it? :)

I think I could put names to most of those remarks :D

My personal favourite

"Someone asks a question that, with a little effort, could be answered by a search engine. Three people leap to point this out. One of them is a total **** about it. An argument breaks out."

And we all know who that would be on here of course !!!

On a slightly more serious note, and having just had a quick look on Pistonheads, I wonder why, judging by the posts on this forum, MB cars don't appear to attract the barely-literate or the semi-literate?

Something I have pondered many times, I am a member on Scoobynet from my past and it is like a refuge for the illiterate on there these days, yet I come on here and it's a different world with spelling and grammar and everything :D

You will find CPU related threads on the car forum, as much as you will find that NIPs are being discussed by computer geeks on their overclockers forums.

Personally, I cant see the slightest bit of issue there. Huge number of members on here have or had different cars than merc, and so what? Does it mean they shouldn't be members on mercedes car forum?

I enjoy coming on here, reading some posts when I get 5, different people, different points of view...its all good :)

Absolutely agree, I think it was The News of The Screws that used to have the strapline "all human life is here" It certainly is on this forum even if Vicars,Boy Scouts and Choirmasters are under represented. I was a choirboy, does it count?

Notice seen on the windscreen of a fully-kitted - stickers, big spoiler, mudflaps, four-point harness, the lot - Impreza WRX in the mess car park at Arborfield:

"Would the corporals please refrain from parking their cars in the Officers' Mess car park"

Though that was not the intention, it sums up the difference between the main target markets for Impreza and Mercedes rather neatly, don't you think?

I was (briefly) in the Boys' Brigade, if that helps....
