Hiya all
I have had some new tyres fitted and the balance weights they have used are a white ish colour and stand out against my black wheels.
Is there a product I can us to colour them the same as my wheels:confused:
Cheers Ben :thumb:

Just a simple permanent black marker pen?

And for gawds sakes Benny, give those wheels a clean man, they're filthy. :D

My local tyre shop do different coloured weights, including, black, white, chrome and stock lead.

Just saying.

Yes, the original weights were black, but my chosen tyre shop only had basic lead ones - the cheapskates .

I do mine as the tyres are being fitted - much to the amusement and nudging/smiling of the tyre fitters.

Did my last ones the same time the tyres were being fitted, but they were so shiny that the guy actually took them off again for me to shot blast so I could get a key to paint onto. Nice lad but I sussed that he was getting a bit fed up with my OCD when I kept moving the centres to get them symmetrical and pointing at the valve. :)

FWIW, I just used a rattle can on mine...

If it really bothers you, have the wheels rebalançed with black weights. Or better still, don't look at them, enjoy driving your car, wait until you have new tyres and get black weights then :thumb:

What do you use to remove the old adhesive?

I haven't tried it on the adhesive for wheel weights, but most sticky glues come off readily with "lighter fluid", for cigarette lighters - the liquid stuff, not the gas in aerosol form.

So much so, that (though I don't smoke) I always have a tin among my tools.

A Toffee or Caramel Wheel in a drill is the quickest & cleanest way to remove the old adhesive. Just don't run it too fast (around 1,000rpm is generally OK) and don't press too hard or you'll leave marks.

I think Mercedes used an abrasive flap wheel to remove the glue! That was the first and last time I asked them to do it...:fail

WD40 took loads of brake dust off as well, from now on I'm going give my wheels a spray and wipe with WD40, did f@@k all to remove the backing from the other weights but cleaned my wheels up a treat.
WD40 good stuff at removing stubborn brake dust. But not the wheels weight backing.
I'll nick the wife's nail remover and give that a try

Cheers for all the replys much appreciated :thumb:

Pull the top off another cold one Benny. You deserve it mucca.
