What do you want to know?

Hi James,

Now making lots of progress with the E Class Cab - gets built next Saturday and as an 809 car (thanks for your help).

My question is about my Estate. In the latest on line price list/brochure it says for an SE you can have Black, Brown or Beige interior (forget the actual names sorry) but on the configurator for the SE models it only shows black. Is this a "typo" on the configurator or have MB constricted the option choices? For AMG Line cars then the Nappa Black or Brown choice is shown (which matches the brochure).

Many thanks

BFG

Hi,

I believe you can still have those, so it’s likely to be a delay in getting the images up on the site

Over in Affalterbach at the moment and also spent the day on the GT production line yesterday. It’s been great to see how different the production process is, particularly the fact that it’s almost all hand built. The only robot in the factory puts the adhesive on the windscreen and roof

I’ve also had a good look at the FL C63, which really looks a lot more aggressive. I have to say I wasn’t blown away by the images, but I’ve changed my mind now I’ve seen in.

Highlight of yesterday was driving an S65 Cabriolet! A few pictures picked out from yesterday’s driving:

Tough day in the office......
Wanna job share?

The exteriors of current MBs are growing on me (the stick on iPad still ruins the interior for me)
That grey GT!

Any reason that a German company, in Germany, has its advertising in English?

It’s a mix! They seem to have the majority of stuff in both languages

Lots of international customers visit Affalterbach, and English is the most international language

Lovely looking cars at AMG, but is it me or does the GTc badge look wrong. I know it's meant to be different but is looks wonky!

Great cars the AMG GT - pity MrsGnome didn't like them.

Went into Halfords to have a dashcam fitted to w222 s-class. Was told fuse box in front passenger footwell is always live and if we were to hard wire the dashcam there it would drain the battery.

Is this the case? Any other fuse boxes I can wire this to? Ideas?

I’m not aware of that being the case. I’ve seen plenty wired in

Possibly not the ideal thread for this, but if the dash cam has a park mode then you would need a permanent live anyway in addition to the switched live.

I'm not familiar with Mercedes, but I wouldn't be surprised if there's another fusebox in the boot that has the supply you're looking for. Also some newer cars (particularly BMW) are very sensitive to battery drain when off so you might need to consider an external battery to work around that.

When I was there last month my guide, Stefan, proudly took me from reception to the first road to cross (Daimlerstrasse) and showed me the flags “see we even have your flag flying for you”..me “that’s the Stars and Stripes , I’m British”...he was a bit embarrassed but I saw the funny side anyway. Great tour. The S65 coupe is also my all time favourite at the moment- awesome but something you could happily drive daily

Hi James

Just a quick query. Just had my SLC's first service at MK and I was told that at the three year service, even if my mileage stays very low (currently just 2000 miles a year) according to MB the tyres will need changing! Have you heard of this?

If this is true, the car is going back off lease early!! :)

That sounds like BS. As long as they’re legal with a reasonable about of tread, you’ll be fine.

Perhaps the SLC is like the Veyron? :dk:

Thanks James! Just what I thought, but you never know....... :))

Hi James
I have a 18 plate C205 and a guy I work with has a 67 plate W205, both in AMG Line but he doesn't have a trackpad, when I configured my car online it didn't look like it was gonna come with one either but it did when it arrived. From what I've read online, it only comes as standard with COMAND nowadays, which I dont have. You able to shed any light on this?
Cheers

I'm not really excited by the C Class facelift, a grill and some odds and ends isn't enough for me to change.

I might be interested in a GLC63S however, do you know when the C class upgrades will make their way into the GLC?
