What does the panel think?

Looks alot of car for the and has good history, only reservation is the mileage

Nice car. Sport trim is IMHO a must on a 211.

Engines are nice but unreliable and transmissions are rubbish. A 270 is better on fuel, slower but more reliable but on a 211 will come with SBC.

This may well be the better bet

Cheers for replies.

I thought the E320 was the best of the bunch + SBC was only on pre-facelifts?

Would you care to elaborate?

I thought the 320cdi engine was bullet proof and the gearbox doesn’t seem too bad once you get used to the annoying jolt in slow moving traffic.

Please be brutally honest, any justification I can use to add weight to my argument that I need to upgrade to a 335d M Sport is more than welcome. :thumb:

Don't they have iffy turbos?

It's a 2008 - late enough to be ok.

A basic spec though (for a 2008 Sport). No COMAND 2.5/memory seats.

Inlet port shut off motor
Turbo actuator failure
Manifolds clog with EGR deposits
7g valve body fails
Front engine bearing failure

All of these can fail and its not unheard of either.

Get the BMW

Don't you start!!! anyway when the turbos do work apparently the car is quite nippy!

P.S - I hope the construction industry isn't getting you down too much! - I'll PM you for fear of hijacking the thread.

It's not the latest 2.5 Comand as mentioned in the advert mind

Don't they have iffy turbos?

No, the engine is sensational and I still can't believe that Mercedes haven't produced something similar.

The 335 M Sports do have the harshest suspension setup ever seen in a modern car... truely awful especially on 19"s.

I have a friend who uses his w211 daily as total work horse, never gets serviced and is currently on 240k ! Obviously its had the usual wear and tear items replaced but no major issues. Bullet proof.

I guess once a car reaches 100k, could be worth a 6 month oil change? Not much of a cost to keep the engine and turbo spot on.

That's far too much money for the mileage IMHO. Mine's an '07 and I paid £3k less with similar mileage. Well looked after, they are still terrific cars and I'm struggling to think what could possibly better mine.
