What E300TD sold in the UK?

Thanks, I have put a bid on!

Interesting, most of the diesels I see have no vents in the wing. But a FEW are advertised as 'turbo' or 'intercooler' and DO have vents in the wing, RHD. One was listed as having 'factory fitted turbo option costing £4,500 extra' and had the vents, another 300D same year no vents. So now I am pretty convinced they do exist...

I'm gonna stick this one out. No UK turbodiesels before W210, and that took until '97.

124 version cars have vents in the wing if they are post face lift E300D.

I will be proven wrong if someone can produce a contradicting advert, as they keep being mentioned.

E300 intercooler

Most have gone now (sold) but here is another listing an intercooler:

MERCEDES E300 Diesel Intercooler Auto
94 (L) 109k £2995.
Spixworth Car CentreTel: 01603 897774
Distance: 106 miles
Price: £2,995

I'll put money on:

A. No turbo and

B. No intercooler.

I bet the dealer thinks because it has an air intake in the wing it has an intercooler...wrong, but a common misconception. All facelift diesels have the wing grills.
Why intercool a normally aspirated engine?

Wing vents denote a move to 24v (or 20v) from older motors as the air filter housing was moved .
People keep banging on about the old engines being too slow . ********, do yourself a favour and relax

The turbo W124s were LHD only I think, also the 300D isn't that slow, try driving the non turbo Peugeot 1.9 XUD engine, you're likely to die of old age before you get to your local supermarket:p, thankfully got the E55 to make up for it though:D.

If you want a 300TD have you thought about getting a W210?.

Relax??? This is a 7 year old thread!!!!!

W124 td

W124 Turbo Diesels were not officially imported to the Uk. I looked for one a few years ago, seen a few after market Turbos and a few LHD ones for sale but finally settled on a E300 24v which is a very capable car but no rocket. Who wants to drive a car which will be almost 20years old now flat out?!
The only thing I found was the 4 speed auto although strong was low geared and so at motorway speeds was near the 4kRPM mark.
I also have owned 325TDS/525TDS and the Omega varient with basically the same engine but less power. For their age these are cars are good for diesels and can be driven quicker than the E300 especially in manual form plus in manual form will be easier on fuel, about 38mpgv32mpg(E300) realistic mixed driving. Again all these cars are getting old aswell and getting a good one is going to be tough!
Get a later W210 E300td or an E39 530D... Faster and as easy run plus they are equally as cheap to buy so job done.
