Hi All

What I mean is - why don't I listen to what I am told.
I asked a question a few weeks ago and was advised what to do.

So today I decided to change the drive belt, got the old one off very easily, without removing the fan. Threaded the new one in using a shoelace!
The belt sort of fitted around the pullies without much problem. but then could not get it onto the final pulley - No I did not sketch how it should be fitted, it seemed so obvious.
So the new one must have been too short. Off with that one and put the old one back on.
Now this one fell off about an hour ago; but now it would not go over the last pulley.
Then decided to consult Haynes - and sure enough the obvious way of fitting it was wrong. Threaded it the correct way and it went on like a dream.

After working on other cars I now realise how well engineered MB's are. But must pay attention to what I have been advised!!!

thanks paul

At least you got there in the end.

Remember MB belts starting at the crankshaft pulley go round all the pulleys in an anti-clockwise fashion. They nearly always touch the waterpump twice.

By the time I had finished it had touched all the pullies about a hundred times!!!!!!!
