What makes the perfect Winter car

My Macan is probably one of the best all rounders summer/winter. Currently fitted with with Michelin Alpin 5 tyres , 375bhp , 4WD , adjustable air suspension, off road mode, hill descent, heated seats front and rear, heated steering wheel and heated windscreen . Only drawback :- if there's that much snow about - it's staying in the garage..

I reckon the Macan could lay claim to being the best all-rounder too. Quite an incredible spread of ability.

My old Legacy GTB, 4WD, 2ltr boxer, twin turbo!
on snow tyres it was incredible - we had a big snow dump (10/11 yrs ago?) and I had to go and collect daughter, I chugged up long hill with cars stopped, unmoveable, at weird angles and it just took it in its stride.

280hp made for a rapid car when you wanted it to be. Fun in summer and winter! Comfortable, practical, what’s not to love?

plus not many people knew what it was - and that was fun too!

The GTB was a JDM import, not the usual normally aspirated version sold in the UK, suspension was a full Bilstein install from factory - there was a later version called the Blitzen which Porsche further tweaked the suspension.
At one stage it held records as the fastest 2L estate in the world!:rock:
Great cars. I’ve never seen one in that colour - looks great!

My Mother in Law had a then-new fast Legacy estate in 1992-4 ish. I can’t remember model, but it was a UK car and whilst she didn't know it had been tuned - arranged by my Father in Law through the dealer, so it was done prior to collection.

Nobody had a clue what it was, but blimey it was fast! She kept it quite a long time but thought it was too fast so when she replaced it, she replaced it with a non-turbocharged first generation Impreza Sport in Reddish Blue.

Unfortunately it was stolen from a multistory car park - I suspect it was mistaken for a turbo!

Subaru did a fast 3 litre flat 6 estate version with a normal ride height and a raised one in their outback version-the only limitation I found was a very restricted turning circle the early ones had a 5speed conventional auto :) but the later models had a CVT:(
the racy one was probably the twin turbo conversion!

As previously mentioned, Panda 4x4 or some small Japanese AWD supermini (usually Suzuki or Daihatsu). They were de rigeur where my dad lived up in the hills in Northern Italy.

For me it’d be an ML63 preferably in Silver. Perfect winter all rounder. I’ve got my eye on a particular one on AT but the price is heavily inflated. It’s as if the seller wants to keep hold of it. 🙄
I think I know that car, I reckon even if you offered the full asking price he wouldn’t sell it. 🤣

Sorry Rob. 😂

My MX - remote defrosting/heating, 4WD with slip start mode for snow etc.. air suspension so can get more clearance, no issue driving through standing water etc :)

I was recently offered quite a lot more than the asking price but I still didn’t sell it! 😁
