whats not right in my engine bay...!

ok go easy as i dont have a manual and its my first merc.

have a look at the picure of my engine bay and can someone tell me what the long white pipe is that runs from the front of the engine bay to the offside rear. think it goes into the brake vacum thingy...!

only ask as i saw another picture of another engine and it had a long black pipe snaking across the engine. has someone bodged this and what does it do. whats it full of air/liquid.

It could be from the manifold to the brake servo ? I am sure an expert will be along soon ! And welcome ! Regards Damian.

Yep vacum pipe. Nothing wrong with the colour of yours, most of them are that colour. Not sure if it is a multi function pipe but if it gets holed you cannot switch the engine off with the key. Again an expert will be along soon to alay your fears.
