Hi folks

I'm looking at the new c class and been out in the 220CDi, which was great. But after doing some research on the net i can't see the difference between the 200 and the 220. I know the 200 puts out 136BHP and the 220 170BHP, but is that purely due to the ECU?

If thats the case, why do most remaps take the 200 to 170BHP and the 220 to 200BHP? Also found the 250CDi engine (again the 2.2) comes with 200BHP as standard.

So.... why can't a 200CDi be remapped to 200BHP?

Thanks in advance

PS anyone recommend a good remap?

I think the 250 is a biturbo. sometimes it is the ECU and a bigger specifiction turbo that make the difference

Well after more research (yeah been a slow day at work) i've found that the 200 and 220 are the same OM651 engine. The 200 BlueEFFICIENCY and the 250 are the OM611, apart from the 250 indeed does have two turbos.

Still begs the question as to why you can tune the 220 to 200BHP but the 200 only to 170BHP  Very strange

The 200 is detuned to sit in a lower tax bracket or appeal to the more frugal buyers out there who do not need the power & run cars or fleets of cars on a tight budget.

Hi ,

This ECU can be mapped to this specification . We have done so many purely for this reason ...

Our local MB dealership have there demo and courtesy vehicles upgraded by us ... To the same spec .

Don't know if it's still the case but the turbo used to be different - different geometry.
