Whilst looking under my seat for something I dropped I noticed that both seats have wires plugged into the base of them. The wires come from under a black casing on the floor under the seat.

I haven't got electric or heated seats so am curious to what these wires are?

Not familier with your car so at a guess i would say seat belt tension or seat belt warning wires. If not could be there for heated seats but not fitted on your model. Guessing really so not a great help!!

I haven't got seat belt warning lights but seat belt pre-tensioners is a possibility i reckon :)

Really no seatbelt warning light??

Could also be seat occupancy sensors for front airbags.

Well, if the seatbelt isn't plugged in there is no warning light.. is this what you mean?

Yup - my '97 SL has a seatbelt warning light, also our '96 Audi A4! It will be mentioned in the handbook if it's meant to have that function.

Both seats have the pretensioner system and the passenger seat has an occupancy sensor.

Thanks DM, that clears up why there are 2 sets of wires going into the passenger seat and only one to the drivers
