Servicing and repairs are two different things.
There's very very little to service on an EV. Even the brakes don't need replacing (and on most EVs will never get replaced).
Repairs are expensive because with 400-800v live, DIY or a back street garage are not an option.
On the plus side, Kia comes with 7 years warranty, Hyundai with 5. The battery has 8 years warranty. After that, repairs will be expensive, I don't see people mucking about with them DIY with these type of currents running in the car.
