Whats your strategy for year 2030 / ban of ICE vehicles?

Clearly.

The obvious solution is compulsory purchase of all residential properties in that street, and forced closure of all businesses. It's for the residents' and workers' own good, you see.

Much more sensible than using zero-exhaust-emissions vehicles, don't you agree?

Or, we could just leave them to suffocate in the toxic fumes, it's probably even cheaper, though the NHS might disagree with this cost analysis (yes yes I know, pollution is not a cause of death etc etc).
How dramatic. Although i appreciate drama is very much in keeping with the current vogue for all things related to climate. We must have alarmism! Helps to justify the unfair taxes.:D

Imagine instead a pragmatic approach. Where the urban geography creates conditions similar to an enclosed space adapt existing technology used to disperse pollution in enclosed spaces. Tunnels for example use systems of fans to disperse pollution as and when required. Adapt this technology to use in these hot spots.

An executive summary would help
Some like the idea of EV, some don't. Some think they help with global warming, some don't. Some don't give a sh1t.

There, fixed that for you....... :)

Need to overcome the Luddites' resistance though.

Of course, if we all went EV, the bus conductor will lose his job.

Sadly the climate alarmists have even weaponised that. Extreme weather alert!

As always in this debate London may be different, but my limited local experience of buses bears you out. I used a park and ride into Manchester last week and a regular observation of the huge near empty carpark suggests that demand is very low. In spite of this the buses run every 10 mins with a handful of passengers. There were only 4 or 5 when I got on. That's neither environmentally friendly or economically viable. One good point was that the bus seemed to have automatic stop start that functioned at every bus stop. The engine didn't stop at traffic lights though so the driver must have been able to override it.
Agreed, but London is no different. I am lucky enough to be a regular user of London’s system. Buses are only full - briefly - at “rush hour.” Which isn’t what it was, anyway, except for schoolchildren.

London is lucky enough to be wasting billions on empty buses, thanks to its famous bus conductor’s son, while the rest of the country isn’t so privileged.

I’ve just figured it out.

Its not being Luddite......to some of us cars are way more than just a method of transport from A to B......they have a noise, a soul, an ICE is a living breathing thing, perhaps with throttle adjustable handling if that's your thing , we can tinker with them at the weekend. So even when any EV ownership issues have been solved and they have 1000 miles batteries, they will never appeal to some of us. Its not that we dont care about the planet (although some of us doubt the possible kevels of improvement from a tiny country like ours going EV when most other places don't care)....its that we DO care about real cars! Cars that you can love, cars that have more depth than just being able to accelerate fast.

On the subject of which......why make them so quick?......with ICE cars you buy a sports or GT car of you want to go quick.....if not you buy something slower....which generally will burn less fuel. So surely if they engineer a current car (for example the MG X power with its 3.8 second 0 to 60) to do a more sensible, but still more than adequate for most people 0 to 60 time of say 7 or 8 seconds....then you would surely instantly add to the all important range??? Or do they not do that because it would take away from EVs the one and only thing they are good at (dubious "Zero Emissions" claims aside)....accelerating quickly!!.:)
