Wheel arch Liners

I was replacing the siren/alarm today.

In order to do this the front of the wheel arch liner needs to be removed, while doing this, I started wondering what horrors were concealed behind the rear of the arch liner?

So took a look and found a load of leaves and other road debris  I know it's a bit obsessive, but the W208 arches are well known for rusting, so all that stuff holding moisture wouldn't help! Also a couple of the rubber grommets had perished through, so they've been replaced to keep the water out of the sills and all crap vacuumed out and washed.

Just thought I'd post to alert others to the hidden dangers :D

I've done my w211 with a mixture of wax oil and wax oil underseal and hopefully keep the tin worm at bay.

This is on my list. My w211 has started showing external rust bubbles !!! Ahhhhh

Not sure if it actually comes from inner arch as mine was tip top under there as in no rust or blemishes. Yes mud was dried on which when wet I suppose can cause problems. Mines 56 plate and before I got her looked at loads. Many had bubbling on rear doors where the outer and inner skin join around latch area! Wonder weather it's just Monday morning Friday afternoon syndrome?.

Oh on 58 plates I seen bubbling too.

Yes I'll be treating the area with the same stuff, was surprised there is no corrosion on such an old car, but I'd like to keep it that way, I'll do the sills as well.

I make it an annual, or sometimes twice yearly, activity on all my cars to blow out all areas as described, front and rear, with traffic film remover, high pressure water and then scrub, rinse and stone chip as required. This keeps all rust traps from rusting. Its a pain but satisfying when done.
