Wheel bearing repair kits

At my last MOT there was an advisory that the front nearside wheel bearing was starting to go.

Having looked around it would appear that you can get wheel bearing "repair kits". It looks like Inchcape sell new bearings too.

Is there any merit in buying a new bearing over repairing the old with one of these kits.

The repair kits are £23 and the new parts are £59 a side.

Presumably, if a bearing were to fail it would then not be repairable? :dk:

I'm going to get the fronts done as the next service and just wandered what the best option would be?

Cheers,

Sorry "starting to go" were my words... It was more like it had a little play.

Adjustment sounds good. It's 18 years old now and done 165k miles and I don't know if they've been done before?

Is there any merit in getting them "back to new(ish)" with a repair kit?

... and don't forget to re-grease them with the proper MB wheel bearing grease.

Yep - if it's not noisy and just has slight play, just adjust and regrease it - only takes a few minutes.

Thanks guys, will do!
