Hi iv just bought some nice shiny 18s for my W202, i cant put them on till next month as i cant afford thr rubber untill pay day, but what i want to know is which locking bolts to get? M12 or M14?

Also im guessing as mine has steel rims on it im gonna need all new wheel bolts? again what size would i need? there after market alloys so should i take one of my wheel bolts out and pop it in one of my new rims to see what lenth comes out the other side? what lenth needs to go in to the hub and what thinkness should they be?

The car is a 1999 C200 W202 classic.

Many thanks in advance,
Sy.

M12.

Length of bolts depends on wheels offset. Without knowing what wheels you bought, it is not possible to answer your question correctly.

Hi thanks for the reply, the wheels are 8 and half inch's wide with an offset of the 35, cant tell you much more about them as there after market alloys, this is probably not enough info to tell me what length i need, i think taking a bolt out of my car and putting through the new rim to seeing what length comes out the back is the best idea, how much lengh do i need going in to the hub?

Many thanks,
Sy.

Ideally I would take a steel wheel or spare out and then check what length comes through. Then decide what you need for your wheels. Or contact the company you bought the wheels off, they should be able to supply correct bolts to go with their wheels.

Just checked the length off my bolts and what length comes through the new rim, 20mm thread on bolt, 11/12mm comes through, so should i get 25mm bolts as that will give me 17mm of thread in the hub, is this enough?

Many thanks,
Sy.

or should i go 30mm to be sure? if to long could this cause problems with the bolt fouling with the back of the hub?

Thanks,
Sy.

No...if you go too long on the back you will interfere with and destroy the brake shoes inside the drum. You need bolts long enough so that the same amount pokes through as you have at the moment. Keep 5 of the original bolts because you will need them for the spare.
