My E220 is just over 3 years old but (recent purchase for me) but when washing it I have noticed the all 4 wheel are showing signs of the alloy blistering/corroding around the valves and edges and even in the middle of flat surfaces.
Is this a fault with MB Alloy wheels :dk:

Unfortunately it's very common.

MB used to be generous with goodwill, but that's becoming harder to come by. Even back in the good old days you might have struggled with wheel corrosion outside of warranty.

Your best chance might be goodwill from the vendor (you mention it's a recent purchase).

+1

We had all 4 of our SLK wheels replaced under warranty just before they were 2 years old. Second set now ~4 years old and although they're not that bad, the corrosion is under way again.

Q.

I did write to MB on this, and got a reponce that they were not intersted as it was out side the 3 years warranty they give. (3yrs 3months old with full MB history)

So not really that impressed with them.

This is quite common on mb wheels. The problem is stone chips damage the laquer allowing water to get in and slowly eat away at the alloy and tarnish the wheel. This will only get worse and spread around the wheel. If it is close to the edge of the wheel;the rim u could start to loose presure in the tyre.

Oops. Wrong thread.

I have noticed that my wheels have also started to blister around the centre. Sounds like I would be wasting my time contacting MB as the car is out of warranty (2006)!

Yep - refurb at your own cost is your best bet now.

Mine are the same and have been from when i bought it (when the car was within the 3 year warranty) but they had been previously refurbished so I didn't even bother going there with MB. I'm going to get mine done soon by the Wheel Specialist.
