Hi

I recently put two Goodyear F! assymetrics on the rear and I must say I like them very much. On the front I have continental contacsport2 - one almost new (replaced a damaged one 4,000 miles ago) and one getting close to needing changing. What I wanted to do was get 2 Goodyears but put the good continental on a steel wheel as a full sized spare wheel (much better than a space saver)

Any ideas on the best place to buyone W203 17" steel wheel.....

Cheers:bannana:

You want a 17" steel wheel? There is a 17" steel designed for use as a winter wheel for the W211. Other than that I don't know where you'd look!

EDIT:
A2114000102 : DISC WHEEL 7.5 x 16 H2 ET 42 : EUR 76.92
A2194000002 : DISC WHEEL 4J x 17 H2 ET 34 : EUR 76.54

Forget what I said, it's a 16" steel.

surely a 15" would work in an emergency as long as the rolling radius was the same?

it would. a 3" one would do the job if the outside diameter remained the same

You'd struggle to fit a tyre designed for a 17" wheel onto a 3" wheel though.

Why not check ebay for a stray 17" alloy? You could also buy a brand new 17" alloy from the parts dept, it'd be about £300ish IIRC

It would be the one off the front....I think thats 225 x 45 x 17

So back to the drawing board....lol

A bargain at £235.00 including vat and 10% discount from inchcape ;)

Will a 17" spare with full-size tyre fit in the wheel well in the boot? I could be wrong, but I doubt it!

A 17" wheel will fit perfectly in the spare wheel well of a w203.

Installing a spare wheel for C32

Also bear in mind that one of the staggered 17" AMG rims (might be rear) with tyre is in fact SMALLER in rolling radius than a 16" rim with tyre :)

£300ish? Its totally pointless for a spare wheel!

Not if you buy the new wheel to replace your scruffiest wheel which then becomes the spare.

Spare wheels are actually pretty handy, if you blow a tyre you might be glad of a proper wheel and tyre in the boot, meaning you can resume your journey and drive in the usual manner. Space savers are only good for one thing: the rubbish-looking wheel forces you to replace the damaged tyre as fast as possible ;)
