Where's the Adblue fill location

Hello

Have just traded in my W164 ML270 against 2012 GL350 Blue Efficiency 61 plate..

From youtube video's the Adblue fill location is shown to be in the rear under the lift access panel, when I go there I have a slim spare tire, jack and tools, when I lift these up I see carpet. The Adblue fill is not next to the diesel fill point, I'm just a bit baffled.

Not sure if it makes a difference but my GL has a towbar fitted, under the rear access panel to the left hand side is a lever that when pulled retracts the tow hitch and it swings under the rear bumper. Maybe this is not significant? Looked everywhere and can't find where to fill Adblue.

After reading much in the net, I don't want to run out of Adblue, vehicle was recently serviced (service record shows this) but unsure if Adblue was refilled.

Many thanks in advance, want to make sure fluids all topped up before heading to Europe.

Also where do members recommend to but Adblue from? I see Halfords and some fuel stations, maybe Amazon.

Thank you

I doubt a 2012 model will need Adblue, it kicked in around 2014 I think.

Our previous 2014 "64" E220 CDI was pre adblue. The fact you probably can't find anywhere to pour the offending liquid probably confirms that it isn't required.

Do check however, just in case I'm completely wrong.

Thanks for your reply!

I thought vehicles badged as Blue Efficiency required Adblue, it is badged as such.

Thanks

Blutec is adblue model. Mines a blue efficiency and has no adblue

Thank you for your reply, yes I'm thinking that could well be the same for my GL350 too, looked everywhere for Adblue fill location.

Kind regards

Blue efficiency badging came in a long time before Adblue, presumably varying from model to model, but I would guess around 2009.

It then disappeared for a while, certainly on some models, before BlueTec appeared. My understanding has always been that BlueTec went with Adblue.

I would be surprised if a 2011 BlueEfficiency car has Adblue.

Thank you to everyone that has contributed posts to my question, Great Forum!!!

Oh well at least I won't have expense of Adblue, as an aside what a beast of a Mercedes the GL is, so far extremely pleased.

"Blue Efficiency" appears on some petrols too so not diesel-exclusive.
