K & N

Green Cotton

Pipercross

Just don't get any "oiled"ones or you run the risk of contaminating your MAFF

on benzworld.org alot of people seem to use the k&n ones on their 55amg's without any problems, pretty sure they are the same/similar engines? Im looking at ordering some next week for my cl55 amg.

Use normal AMG ones, your maf will get effected if you use the K&N and freen filters etc etc,

maybe go with a dry filter from AFE. aFePower.com

I'll stick with the AMG ones.

For what it's worth I use a K&N panel filter in my MX5. As far as I can tell it's made no difference to bhp or induction noise. But like you say, they can be cleaned and reused time and time again, so work out cheaper in the long run, especially if you want to service it every year.

Green Filters on my 43 but very little oil, or choose OEM. I have a K&N on my C240T with abolutely NO problems (to date...)

How many more times are we going to have this debate? The only way your MAF will get mullered is if you over oil the K & N filters, which by the way does not need doing for 100,000 miles.

I have been running two in my SL600 for ages without a problem. Do you think I would risk killing 2 MAFs if there was actually a risk?

Thanks, the K&N's only have minimal oil on them. And as you say when you eventually clean them just got to make sure that you don't over oil them :)
I have used K&N's on a number of different cars over the years and have never had any problems :bannana:

Oh yea I also had a k&n on a slk 230k and a BMW 330ci sport with no problems too :)

Hi,
I have had a K&N filter on my C230K for over 100k miles no ill effects.
I fitted a pair of K&N's in my 55 engine in the 43, and i believe it has given it a more pronounced induction noise, though i never run the 55 with standard filters i can,t say for certain.
I was gonna get a pair of BMC filters for it but i could,nt get them quick enough.
ITG are another to consider.
