Looking to buy an E class coupe 2013 to 2015 ish just wanting to know which engine size do owners recommend.also mpg figures. Thanks in advance.

On a related note, the C207 was based on the floorpan and running gear of the W204 (and not the W212), so when looking for 'common faults', it is worth checking for known issues with both C207/A207 and W204/S204/C204.

One thing I can advise, is that I am not sure if the M271 engine (1.8L/1.6L 4-cyl petrol Supercharged/Turbocharged) was used in the C207 during the years you mentioned i.e. 2013-2015 (I know it was in use in the C204 until mid-2015), but if it was, then have a search online for 'M271 timing gear failure' so that you know what to look out for and what to be careful of.

Other than that, the C207 is a great car, it has the smaller wheelbase and agility of the C-Class, with the luxury and trim level of the E-Class - good combination.

Mark, by level do mean quality? I know there is anecdotal evidence that suggests the quality of c class cars of that vintage isn't great. One memorable comment described the interior as being like a taxi, though I can't remember if it referred to a saloon or coupe. Thanks.

I have a basic-spec 2013 W204. Yes, it's quite basic, and Artico does make it feel a bit taxi-like. Nicer interiors do exist, but they are relatively rare on the C-Class. A C207 with nice Designo leather is in a different category however :thumb:

Other options more likely to be found on the C207 than on a W204 are things like ambient lighting, exterior lighting package, electrically folding mirrors, memory seats (or with cooling), driver aids pack, pano roof, etc etc.

I had the 350 - 3L V6 diesel on a 14 plate.

It was a lovely car, 2 tone full leather interior with a light coloured headliner - it was a lovely place to sit.
However my wife just couldn't get on with the multi - contour seats, so I'm afraid it didn't last as long as I would have liked.

The engine was beautiful, masses of torque and fast enough - fantastic on a long motorway cruise.
Easily average over 50 on the motorway, and around 40 overall.

Easy on the eye too - mine was Palladium and it suited it beautifully.

Nothing really bad to say about it, if you can live with 2 doors and a wife who likes the seats.

Take one for a spin.

I've got an E400 A207, I love it. It has averaged now 29 mpg for the last 7,000 miles on decent pedal application mainly on A and B roads. On a run up to Heathrow (about 60 miles) I can get it to average 38 mpg. But I didn't buy it to save fuel to be honest.

sorry i didnt mention it will be a diesel.220,250,350.
Just sold my clk 270 cdi had it 4 years cost 12.50 for a set of front brake pads plus servicing and could reach over 60mpg.Brilliant car sold with 102000 miles Hope my next mercedes is as good !

I've had 2 E220d and found them fine, try and get a facelift 2013+ , and it must have a pano roof. Can't help on MPG , didn' cover many miles.

if you can get a 9 speed model, my e350 ticks over in 9th at around 1150 rpm at 70 mph , averaging high 30's on my way to work . haven't travelled far upto now but i do think itll see high 40's with ease .

I covered about 6000 miles a year on average over 4 years, not much motorway mileage and I think my average mpg was about 35 .Both 220d's.

Pano roof cars are beautiful, BUT it takes-up headroom space inside the cabin (as do all sunroofs).

So if you have long legs and a short torso - no problem.

But if you happen to have short legs and a tall torso... well the pano roof might not be for you.

So I suggest that you adjust the seat to feel comfortable and then check your headspace.

There's 2 on auto trader now with red leather.b48e78d4bf1448f089b5948e1f7825bc.jpg11f669d487e64a57b43c50d05803b009.jpg
