Which oil , dealer says OW30 for w211 e270cdi 02 but

Hello again , went to main dealer for parts and asked about engine oil for my car W211 E270CDI 2002 avangarde. The Mb dealer in Bolton stated OW30 229.3/229.5 castrol slx after checking chassis number and that I would need 6.5ltres for oil change.I asked dealer regards the 10/40 spec and he said for my model it is Ow30 recommended. However on this forum I seem to find only the 10/40 spec, anyone shed some light.

10W40 is not correct for your car.

5w30 or 0w40 or 0w30 with the 229.3 or 229.5 MB spec.

Also... 10W-40 is semi-synthetic oil, 0W-30 is full-synthetic, so even setting aside the MB spec (which one shouldn't do, really...) semi-synt would be the wrong oil for your car.

The extra "1" is low ash oil and is only needed if the car has a DPF. Few MB's do, the OPs car certainly hasn't, not sure about yours.

Thanks for that Rory... My local stealer told me I needed .51, so I'd hazard a guess mine might be the one with the DPI...
