Hi guys & gals,

I’m after a set of Wipers for my car.

I did it totally wrong last time, & tried some cheapo things,,,,, that were well carp !
I won’t bore you with all thedetails, but I now want better.

1/ I was going for Bosch.
Then I heard there were two types for this model car: single &/or multi connecting blades
Anyone used either/both of these ?
Are they both a ‘standard’ fit ?
Is there an advantage to either ?

2/ My local supplier stock TRICO Neoform.
The last Trico ones I tried (not sure which model) were utter crap. I wrote to Trico but didn’t get a reply.
I had assumed that an old and trusted brand like these, would be reliable !

Any other recommendations ?

3/ What do people recommend, to keep the inside of the screen clean/smear free ?

Cheers all

I always buy my wipers from the main dealer, they are usually about the same price as the aftermarket ones.

Plus they come with a star on each wiper, which I strangely quite like...

Going by your experiences with Trico i would think that would rule them out! I have Bosch aero's on mine and cant fault them standard fit too!

Tony.

for an e320 cdi my son was quoted £33 inc vat from merc or £24 for Bosch Aeros- for 2x26" blades - he went for bosch Aeros.

The bosch ones are the same price as main dealer so I would just buy MD ones.

I dare to disagree: I buy supermarket/ebay cheapies, for say £4 a pop. Compared with branded - quoted at £33 a pair in an earlier post, that's eight sets for the price of one set of branded (or even 6 sets against the Bosch, which I don't rate any better than cheapies, to be honest).

As they are probably made in the same factory, the branded ones are very unlikely to last eight, or even six, times as long, and I get brand new wipers more often, not part worn ones.......

A set of 'supermarket' wiper blades will not be 'made in the same factory' as Bosch/OEM etc.

I bow to your confirmation, I don't have the evidence, I merely said "probably", but I have to say I think unlikely that Bosch, not to mention MB, would have exclusive manufacturing facilities for wipers, and that they don't outsource .

I get the goodyear blade (assurance) ones from Costco (Goodyear Wiper Blades ) (that's the US costco, but it gives an idea)

IIRC, they were £3.40 a pop, and changed annually at MOT works for me...

M.

I put a pair of the Goodyears from Costco on the SLK last week. They are ok for the price, about £7 each. They do squeak a bit though if the rain isn't heavy and a bit fiddly to fit as they are universal fitting..

How much are MB wipers by the way?

Just had new blades fitted at my dealership. £29 inc the fitting, windscreen polish and fluid top-up, plus 2 cups of excellent espresso and a Danish pastry! :D

Iv tried the standard Bosch & the Valeo ones on mine (single blade) not impressed with either.

Original MB wipers (Valeo SWF) work well for me.

I just replaced the big single wiper on the E300TD.
Always use the Bosch wiper.
Always get it from ECP.
Always been OK

The latest one says on the packet.
Robert Bosch - Germany.
Made in Romania.

Ditto !!!!

£33 for new blades with breakfast LOL

The CLS 63 at £85000 + had the same wipers and there comes a point when being frugal goes too far .....

Main dealer all the way ....
