Who's placed a C63/s order ??

Btw, when the computer systems says production date of say, August 14th - does that indicate when they start building the car or when it should be completed?

When it's started. They only take a few hours anyway

Well mine has now been put back by 3-7 days, waiting on some AMG parts apparently, but the dealer doesn't know which parts.... Hummpphh!

Review vs M3 and some American thing

British Board of Classification: Not for ScottBacon to read unless accompanied by a guardian ;)

Haha great video.

The M4 is half a second quicker round the Killarney track to include having 2 cylinders less, 1 litre less and 79bhp less.

The men from Munich must be pi**ing themselves, imagining how much more they could have achieved if they had to build a 4.0 twin turbo V8. But then again they already built a 4.4 twin turbo V8 in the M5 which produces 560, 575 or even 600 bhp depending on which variant you go for :D

My guardian also agrees :D

M4 doesn't sound like a C63 though...some folk (like me) would buy for details like that rather than which is faster on a track they'll never drive it on.

It's horses for courses mate. They're both exceptional cars

I ordered the c63s initially but got cheesed off with the customer service of not having available 360 degree cameras, not having enough diamond white paint, engines being rumoured to have more demand than supply etc. etc.

My sales experience with BMW, on the contrary, has been excellent with everything that I ordered being available when I want it.

Indeed...I found my local Merc dealer in Tamworth were rather elitist, being a scruffy looking 36 year old who turned up in Volvo I wasn't taken seriously. They inspired me to go to Jaguar, who were a great bunch of guys...I sadly prefered the C to the XE so ordered a Merc anyway. BMW Sytner in Four Oaks didn't take me serious either to be honest.

I love BMW M cars, had a V8 535i E39 M Sport before the Volvo. All I meant was, for most people it's not about how fast a car goes round a track it's how it makes you feel. Track times are not relevant for road cars in my opinion.

I think that's a good point. They're quite different cars actually. The C63 is more of a muscle car and the BMW is more of a focussed drivers car. They are clearly both very good cars, but they seem completely different in character. The C63 is always praised for its duality and I think that's quite impressive. I think the fact that it is in high demand and currently quite low production is a good thing. It's still 'exclusive'

I recently had to try and find a used C63 from. Within an 80 mile radius, there was one for sale on Autotrader. We looks at M3's and found 44 in the same area. I think that says a lot

Definitely different cars - Check out the Chris Harris excellent review and he says they have always had different attitudes and that's a good thing. I already have a track car (e46 m3) so I preferred the AMG to the new M3 as my daily driver, mostly because of th AMG character = noise and torque. My current C63 is the best car I have owned so far and mostly it's down to the noise it makes which makes it so much fun - the new car continues that (imo).

The new M3 in this EVO video is 0.7 secs faster than the c63 round Bedford:
BMW M3 vs Mercedes-AMG C63 S - evo Deadly Rivals | Evo

But if we are being realistic, so what - if I was buying a car for the track then maybe that would matter more but these track tests do no equate to the real world at all - for example, I also might be a much faster driver than someone on track in their m3 and might be 3 seconds faster around Bedford in my C63s, or even my e46 m3, or I might not be. It's just a magazine track test and only counts for pub talk.

I'm on a M3 forum as it Scott and you should read the thread when the new Civic Type R beats the new M3 around a circuit in an Autocar comparison - que loads of comments about track times doesn't count and people would much rather have a m3 than a civic etc - also saying " Helen off in t m3" or didn't drive it properly - well I could say if EVO didn't oversteer so much it would have been a much closer time - net net it's the same thing :)

Btw, I am a big M and AMG fan, in fact I love my e46 m3 - to me it's a masterclass in car design.

Sign of the times, and no doubt highlights the issues they are having.

Good luck with the M4 Jim - I wouldn't have waited until March either - Coupe will be out by then though so I would have considered switching my order to that and taken a punt on it.

Did you consider buying a demonstrator or stock car - I know of two dealers with cars in their showrooms, high spec also but absolutely agree with your choice to get a m4 (although I prefer the M3 to M4).

Enjoy your new car.

Where did you buy your 507 from as t doesn't sound like a good dealer relationship? I'm buying my C63s from the same dealer/salesman who supplied my 507, in fact I sold my 507 to them, but this was negiotiated completely separate to the new car sale. They were so good one of the reasons I went for C63 again over the M3 was because I really like the service/relationship I have there.

Hi,
Your experience is how it should be - but sadly this is becoming rarer.
When we were looking for a new car a few months back - I made a point of turning up at dealers wearing shorts and t-shirt.
The smart dealers did not judge me by what I was wearing - the stuck up ones ignored me or looked down on me.
I parked our new gleaming white ML63 outside one Land Rover dealer and made a point of showing the sales guy what I had bought after he ignored me on my last visit (we were looking at a RR Sport). The look on his face was priceless!
Cheers
Steve

Good for you fella. I got ignored at Tamworth Merc dealership on two separate occasions...my wife told me to write a complaint letter but I couldn't be bothered. BMW Four Oaks treated me the same. I thought my money was as good as anyone else's...obviously I was mistaken.
