Hi all

I took the valve covers off my C63 to have a look at the cam lobe wear, and noticed that my cam bearing caps are a totally different colour to the rest of the engine? Why would this be? To me it almost looks like they came from a different engine? Or the caps are a different material that wears in a totally different way to the rest of the top end which would not make much sense? TIA

I could be wrong but I think caps are made of ally alloy, nearly every other part is steel of some description and also a moving part guess the oil settling on the caps turns them that kind of orangey brown, bit like nicotine stained fingers in old days before ciggy filters.
You can usually see a little of that colour on the unfinished lands between cam (steel) jounals and lobes

Could I ask, with the supercharger what are your average 0-60 figures and quarter mile time 🙂

Honestly I couldnt tell you, but adding 200+ hp through the rears doesn't make it any easier to launch lol. I did buy a dragy earlier this year so I could see where the car is, but never got round to doing some proper runs. Crappy weather most of the summer didn't help.

I only really drive the car on long journeys, which invariably means motorways - for me that is where the supercharger comes into its own as opposed to 0-60/quarter mile times. It just keeps pulling and pulling, and has had owners of some much posher metal (plus some GTRs) wondering wtf just happened. I love it

Was just curious, I keep thinking something around or under 3.6s 0-60? I suppose it varies too between engines and atmosphere, tyres etc 🙂
