Why so cheap??

Standard plus spec appears to have been the base Tesla model 3 for the UK. Insurance group 48.
I noticed that you mentioned the AutoTrader earlier so I looked there first, and the first one that came up was this one.

I need to check that the insurance premiums will be affordable when we put our 19 year old daughter with her 2 years of NCB on as wifeys named driver.

ChipChop may have a point, that the Tesla is exceptionally expensive to insure. I always thought that a car's insurance group rating depended on engine power, with the 'desirability' among car thieves being the second factor, but it may be the case that the cost of repairs is indeed a significant factor as well, I do not know. Unless you're particularly keen on a Tesla, I suggest that you look at other EVs that are cheaper to insure. The cheap-and-cheerful (and much slower) Dacia Spring is Group 24-25, the faster MG4 is 27-33, etc. But, again, I have no idea why the Tesla is particular is expensive to insure.

EDIT - The Hyundai IONIQ 5 starts at Group 29 (same group as the W204 C-Class I used to have).
 
Interestingly, my 2016 Suzuki Vitara with the 1.6L NA 118bhp engine is group 13. A Year later the 1.6L engine was replaced with a more frugal 1.4L Turbo 138bhp engine, and the insurance group jumped to a whopping 17 - the cars are identical, the only difference is the smaller and more powerful engine introduced in 2017, bringing the 0-60 time down from 11.6 to 9.9 sec.

Based on this, it does seem that performance and engine power are key factors in insurance group rating.

It looks like the group rating system is soon to be replaced by the 'Vehicle Risk Rating'.
