Hi

I have a strange fault on my lap top, after using the WiFi connection for 5 or 10 mins, its suddenly stops working.

Initially I thought it was the routers connections to the internet failing but it turns out that it is just my laptop not any other machine in the house.

The WiFi shows that its still connected, but the internet does not work, so I have to log off from the router and then log back on and then it starts again.

Any ideas?

Thanks guys

Update the driver for the wireless card, as a first option.

I had this issue with my Lenovo.

is the router being used to generate IP addresses automatically?

next time it fails run ipconfig (from the start menu, use the 'run' window, type in 'cmd' and hit enter. Then in the black box which opens on your screen type in 'ipconfig' and hit enter

you'll get a load of text, what should be of interest to you is the

IPv4 address, it should be something like 192.168.1.any number between 1 and 254

you can write those numbers down and set them permanently in your network connection properties rather than configuring things automatically
