My friend deleted the silencer on his CL500, it is very loud and has chav'ed his car - The resonator would definitely be the better option!

I can only hear my V8 when the revs pick up and my foot is in the carpet - Which is exactly how i like it ( Rarely do it hough )

Deleting the centre muffler(s) will give a little more noise. Deleting the rear box(es) will give a lot more noise.

My car has a straight pipe where the centre muffler (aka resonator) used to be. It also has an AMG back box, but that's purely cosmetic (made no difference to the sound but looks nice ). Originally there was virtually no exhaust noise - Mercedes actually dropped the centre muffler themselves in the next facelift. Now you can hear it when accelerating but it's still almost silent when cruising. Mods declared for insurance, and no MOT issues (mostly done at a main dealer).

Yes, this is kinda what I want - noise when I bury my foot and more refined when cruising around. Resonators it is!
