I've have a new laptop with Windows 7.

I never liked Vista and stuck with XP until now.

Does anyone have any useful tips for using Window 7.

Thanks in advance.

Paul.

Hello

No useful tips but I find Windows 7 very usable, Some of the features are very handy and its pretty easy to use. The 'snap' feature where if you drag one screen to one side and another to the other is handy for transfering files / pictures.

Theres loads of features, I think the on line help or google will give you some ideas. Seems very good though and even the techs at work like it....which says something.

Yep, it's very stable, it hasn't thrown a wobbly since a clean install of 64bit version, and I like the 'pin to taskbar' feature.
Navigation in folders is helped by a default search function, so you can find files easily eg: open a folder and type the first few letters of the file and it'll go and find it.
I guess it just feels a lot more user-friendly and up-to-date, in a good way.
I never used the 'shake' the window feature other than to see what it does, and I can't remember what it did...

Indeed 'tis very good. Much easier to navigate than vista.

I even backed my PC up using windows backup, replaced 80gb system disk with 2TB. Did restore and resize partition - all in about 20 mins without any fuss or need to read how to do it. That was impressive.

If you have a lot of windows open - and only want the one - click on that and shake it - all the rest disappear..:thumb:

Many thanks for the advice chaps. :thumb:
