Hi all,

How easy would it be, and is there maybe a kit, to get the windows to go up when you lock the doors with the remote control on the key fob?

Thanks!

Mine do on the CLK , you need to hold the lock button down for a couple of seconds ...

As above. The radio control bit locks the doors. The Infra red bit closes the windows. You point at the drivers door handle and continue to press the button until the windows have closed.

Mine does this too, but seems a bit hit and miss...sometimes it will work, soemtimes it does not seem to want to.....

Same with the clk convertible.....sometimes the hood will operate from the key, sometimes it won't!!

Do you think this would work with my 2000 W208 CLK320 Cabrio?

I have tried holding the button. Didn't realise I might have to point the infra-red bit at the door handle. I'll try it this afternoon (it's in the car park, and I cant be bothered to walk over the right this minute).

Should do ...

Doubt it will put the hood up , but it should do the windows.

Point the key at the drivers side IR panel and hold down for a couple of seconds.

No.

At least it did not work with our W208 cab and indeed could not as you have to manually undo the roof in the first instance.....the W209 roof is fully automatic. Don't think it did the windows as alternative either.

Sorry, I was referring to teh windows, not the roof. My bad for not being clear.

Tried it. Worked. Wow.....Had the car for 2 years and I never spotted that little IR receiver by the handle. Excellent.

Wow..had our W208 cab for 3.5 years and never found that out...

Read the hand book. There are other little things you'll find out. Suchas the ability to open the drivers door only with the remote.

Worked out unlocking drivers door only ok....

I find this feature a bit unreliable also.

I usually close the sunroof and windows while driving down our drive but sometimes forget (loud music in cars) and it's these moments when the IR trick doesn't work.

I recall resetting it once, something to do with opening the sunroof fully or something and it worked on test then failed to work when I needed it.

I'm sure that the sunroof has some kind of memory as it sometimes opens halfway on first press of the button and sometimes only a crack.

Must look this up someday

Umm how can one open just the drivers door with the remote?

As an aside.. my old VW Passat had "adjusted" software that would close the windows and sunroof (way cool to watch) when locking the car. No need to point at the IR sensor...

Press and hold the lock and unlock buttons simultaneously for 5 seconds to reprogramme the remote control. Battery check light will blink twice indicating the completed mode change.

I did have a 5 series which closed everything as you walked away from the car. Interesting when people would call out to advise the windows were open then tail off as they started to close...

It is cool to watch even on a VW Passat :D

And the remote thing works too! Wowser, something else I didn't know...

I believe a lot of older cars did this too (including Mercs) but was scrapped as it was deemed dangerous for the windows/roof to close unattended.

That's why you now have to stand there and hold the button, so you can see if anyone/thing gets trapped.

Interesting point...

Possibly why the software fix was sold by someone based in China
