Windscreen clearing issues on C180

Hi,
I have a 5 year old C180 sport coupe, I have had it for just over a year and in the last 2 months the windscreen hasn't been clearing well at all! I thought it was the weather but I can literally sit for 20 mins and it won't clear any of the windscreen. It doesn't feel like the vents are blocked and they heat up but not much air is coming out of them even with the air on full? And I recently cleaned the windscreen as I thought that would help. Any ideas? Has anyone else experienced this?

Thanks

Hi,try getting the car put on star(mb diagnostic tool)at a good indi & see if any fault codes are present, sounds like your blower regulator/motor is shot.

Could be the air direction flaps out of alignment, or the pollen filter clogged up.

Does it not work well even if you press the front demist button (I'm assuming the Coupe has one of those)?

That's how long it takes with the demist button on! Thanks for the tips though, hopefully it will just be a filter as it was serviced before Christmas and there were no problems.

Check the easy things first - pollen filter (as already mentioned). You'll be amazed at just how clogged up these get in a short time.

You don't have the 'Recirc' button latched in by any chance? If so, you will have little joy in removing the moisture from inside the car and thus, misted up windscreen....

Welcome to the forum btw!

If you manually move the air direction knob from up to face to down, does the air direction change OK and does it seem to blast out OK (full speed on face, it should hurt your eyes!)?

It may be that the a/c isn't working effectively or it's too cold for it - it should come on automatically when you press the demist button.

I believe you would have the same dash as my C180 - in which case pressing the front windscreen demist button will activate the air-con and direct foul blast at the windscreen. On my car this clears the windscreen almost instantly - which is a good thing because in winter you really want to turn it off before you freeze...

If this is not the case on your car, then something is wrong.
