Winter approaching - some timely advice!

Would you get away with jump starting a SAM equipped car if the vehicle being jumped from had its engine switched off?

The RAC guy who started mine tried the jump-pack first, then connected it to his van for ten minutes then used the jump-pack again which did the trick. His engine was running but he did not try to start the car until his leads were off again and the jump-pack re-fitted.

I don't think I would chance it

It does say on your 1st page to jump start from vehicles with a nominal charge of 12v's only - any higher and it may cause damage.

I think a quick call to the AA or mobilo life etc is well worth it. It's a hour that could cost thousands if you blow your electrics by rushing....

About 3 years ago Mr. Mobilo jump started my E 270 CDi straight from his R Class. Never had a problem.

Was the engine running? If not, you could probably get away with that as the battery would (hopefully) be only 12-13V nominal :)
