Winter tyres again :(

The Nokian All Weather + tyres look like they have exactly the same tread as the old WR G2 that I used to have on my cars. I had them on for all the recent winters that we had snow and they handled everything impeccably. The only area I noticed they lost out was dry grip but that was only if you were really throwing the car around.

A vote for Vredestein Quatracs. We've had 2 sets of them on the family hack and it performed admirably in all weathers including ski trips and the bad winter of 2009/10.

As others have said, in our climate, four season tyres work remarkably well.

You don't have to worry about temperature fluctuations and you can use them rain shine or snow, safe in the knowledge that you wont get stuck in snow.

One winter a few years ago I had to zig zag past cars that were abandoned on the carriageway on the M2 in order to get a ferry and drive another thousand miles across Europe in the worst weather Europe had seen in 20 years. It was a deeply unpleasant journey, only made possible by the fitment of Goodyear eagle vector EV2 four season tyres.

Is it actually gonna get colder then?? Shorts and t-short in London Saturday. Mid oct... :)

Anyway my Dunlop 3d are going back on in a couple of weeks. Didn't see anything but bare tarmac last season, rather if that was the case this years as well :)

Well, the odds are that we won't get any snow again this winter but the overall cost of being prepared is fairly low while the value of the smug feeling you get as you cruise past people slithering all over the place is incalculable ;)

After a week of looking at tyre reviews,I decided to fit a set of UNIROYAL RAINSPORT 3 tyres. The reviews are realy good.A rating for wet grip and B for dry. Also good ratings for wear and noise.Has anyone else tried these tyres before,if so,what are your thoughts?

Wanted All Season's for mine and ended up with Kumho KH21's on the rear and Vredestein Quatrac 3's on the front - no All Season tyre available does both the front and rear sizes in the correct speed rating and load index.

Seem fine so far - in fact I've had the Kumho's on the back since last year and I can't tell the difference in ride, noise and handling between those and the Michelin Primacy HP's that were on before.

I'm normally a very steady driver and really only use my car for long motorway cruises but I went for All Season as I could find away away from home when the weather turns. I don't think there's quite the "precision" in steering and grip as on Summer tyres so I don't think "press on" drivers would want to run them year-round.
